July 2: Food Independence Day Celebration

Join Slow Food Indy at Earth House for a 7:30pm screening of the Oscar-nominated documentary filmThe Garden, but come early (doors open at 4pm) for local farming exhibits, live music, activities for kids, and an all local organic dinner.
$30.00 covers all the day's events including a "meet and greet" lunch with the director of The Garden.
A la carte tickets are $5/person for the film and $10/person for dinner.

5:30pm Urban Farm Tour followed by dinner seating at 7:00pm

7:00pm Urban Farm Tour followed by dinner seating at 8:30pm
Cost: $25 for Slow Food members or $30 for non-members
(price includes taxes and gratuity – drinks are not included)
Dress
: Casual with comfortable shoes, as guests will be walking or biking and exploring urban farms before dinner.

Join Slow Food Indy for a tour of urban farms and kitchen gardens and enjoy a local hog roast at R Bistro.
While guests have the option to skip the tour and simply make dinner reservations, we hope you'll follow local farmer-tour guides on foot or bring your bike! We'll tour the Big City Farms Urban CSA lots, the Cottage Home Community Garden, and several backyard kitchen gardens in the Cottage Home Neighborhood. The tours will depart promptly from R Bistro, and guests are requested to meet there at 5:30pm (in advance of a 7:00pm dinner seating at R Bistro) or at 7:00pm (in advance of a 8:30pm dinner seating at R Bistro).

Reservations will be closed on July 31st (or when all places are filled).

August 8: Hoosier Farm & Garden Dinner

"A community pitch-in dinner to celebrate the goodness of fresh local food"
Home-made Ice Cream Demo, Tomato Juice Canning, Games for Kids and Adults
Cost: $5 per person
Main dish and soft drinks will be provided.
Bring a large salad, vegetable, dessert or other side dish to share, using at least one ingredient from an Indiana farm or garden.

August 22, 2pm: Community Canning Day @ Ivy Tech, 4th Floor Kitchens

Bring your own canning supplies and ingredients to "put up" the bounty of summer's good, clean, and fair food to enjoy later in winter.
During SFI's 2010 Annual Meeting in January, folks will be invited to bring their canned & preserved foods to trade.

August 30, 12pm: "How to Eat Local" Harvest Potluck & Speakers in collaboration with Weston A. Price Foundation
Please bring a dish or beverage to share along with your resuable dining ware, and join us at The Bridge at White Rivertate Park (801 W. Washington St.) for the following presentations.
Chef Thom England and Karen Mangia
will speak about how they have eaten locally for an entire year, right here in Central Indiana.
